As we reflect on the year 2024, it’s clear that alongside the regular marketing activity that we’re well-known for, our team has been busy making a significant impact by working on a number of incredible one-off events.

While many clients would associate us solely with social media marketing and content creation, we’ve been excited to really ramp up the challenge this year – showcasing just how much our expertise extends far beyond that.

We’ve successfully collaborated with both new and existing clients – often at short notice – to create memorable experiences that engage communities, promote local initiatives, and bring events to life in extraordinary ways.

Let’s a trip down memory lane to some of our favourite events of this year.

Kabaddi Comes to Coventry

One of our standout events this year was the introduction of Kabaddi, a new sport making its debut in Coventry.

Partnering with the Coventry City Council sports team, we helped grow their social media presence leading up to the Kabaddi league’s arrival, building up the buzz to launch-day. Our efforts culminated in a live social media event at the AT7 Centre in Coventry, showcasing the excitement surrounding this new sport.

Active Schools Challenge

Following the success of the Kabaddi event, we collaborated with Coventry sports team on the Active Schools Challenge.

The initiative kicked off with a children’s mile run at the War Memorial Park to launch a four-week program encouraging schoolchildren to engage with their local parks. By collecting points, schools competed for prizes, fostering a spirit of friendly competition and community involvement.

Supporting Independent Businesses

In our commitment to support local enterprises, we partnered with the Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) to highlight independent businesses in the area.

Our campaign included social media promotions, custom decals for storefronts, and targeted advertising – all aimed at raising awareness and driving foot traffic to these businesses. We’re excited that this initiative is just the beginning of a larger project that we hope to expand in the coming years.

Back to School Campaign

This summer, we launched our second back-to-school campaign in collaboration with Coventry BID.

Our goal was to promote local businesses as the go-to destination for school shopping. We utilised eye-catching window stickers and magazine advertisements to draw attention to the offerings in the city centre. The feedback from business owners has been overwhelmingly positive, with impressive reach and engagement metrics.

Streets of Coventry Festival

One of the most exciting projects we undertook was the Streets of Coventry campaign, a six-week festival of culture and outdoor performances organised by Imagineers.

This inaugural event for Coventry was a tremendous success, allowing us to engage with the community through live videos and social media posts. The reach and impact of our promotional efforts were remarkable, showcasing the vibrancy of Coventry’s cultural scene and reaching over 875k people via the Coventry City Centre social media platforms.

Skydome 25th Anniversary

In October, we hosted a free family fun day for the Skydome’s 25th anniversary – welcoming customers old and new.

We partied like it was 1999 throughout the day, with music, cakes, prizes and more. The event was a resounding success with fantastic feedback from both the public and the businesses within the Skydome that we supported, resulting in over 81k total social impressions, 165 new email subscribers and over 27k email opens in partnership with the ‘Go CV’ database.

As we approach the end of the year, we’re gearing up for a variety of Christmas events and plenty of exciting projects to round out a successful 2024 – and we can’t wait to add our special brand of Piece of Cake Marketing energy to bring them to life.
