The C-word! It’s all over the news, it’s all over social media and the kids are even talking about it on the playground. Health should always come first and we all need to make sure we are following the suggested precautions. If you run a small business the uncertainty around Coronavirus can be worrying. We’ve had a great start to 2020 but that could all change if the businesses we work for start to struggle.
How do we take this horrid situation and adapt to allow our businesses to survive?
Show your businesses community spirit. Can you deliver your products to those people most at risk or those having to self-isolate? If your business has an opportunity to help those in need, not only will it give you a warm fuzzy feeling but it’s also an opportunity for some great PR.
Self-isolation may give people more time to think and more time to scroll! We already know that the period between Christmas and New Year is the busiest time on Rightmove because people have the headspace to start thinking about the future. You may start to see enquiries go up as people start to think about what they would like to do to their home, how they might like to change their career and activities they would like to do with little ones once this virus has hopefully passed.
People will be bored. If people are at home self-isolating the novelty will soon wear off and the boredom will start to creep in. If you run classes (eg fitness/toddler groups) why not use technology such as FaceTime / WhatsApp / Facebook Live to carry on running classes remotely. This will help to keep your brand in mind and occupy their time.
Whatever you decide to do, try and communicate with your customers and keep them up-to-date. You could do this via your social media channels and also via google my business if you are a local business owner. There are some great tips here.
Top tips…
* It’s a great time to market your business.
* Carry on being consistent and persistent with your social media to keep your business at the forefront of your customer’s mind.
* Think outside the box and be helpful.
