Social Media Content Ideas for March 2020

Marketing Content Ideas for March

After storms and viruses dominating our attention for the last few months, hopefully, the coming of Spring in March will prove to be a turning point that we can all look forward to. The days are getting longer and changes are happening all around us.

There are some big events taking place including St David (1st) and St Patrick (17th) feast days, World Book Day (5th), Earth Hour (28th) and – yes! – Spring starts on the 20th. If you have Welsh or Irish connections, or products that are made/sourced/inspired by, show your heritage on the saints days.

Sport Relief takes place on 9-13th, and there are plenty of serious and seriously silly things that take place around that. The F1 Grand Prix season starts at the end of that week in Australia, and the Boat Race is on the 29th, presenting plenty of opportunities to show a bit more of your social, human side.

Earth Hour (wwf.org.uk/earthhour) is potentially a great hook to demonstrate your ethical, environmental awareness as a business, by joining the global movement to switch off your lights or your phone for an hour. Join the Facebook event for more information.

If you’re a parent in the Midlands, the 2nd March is the day where you’ll find out about senior school places for your children.

British Pie Week (5th-11th March) is balanced by Nutrition and Hydration week (16-22nd) – and who doesn’t like to talk/read/look at food?!

2020 gains momentum…

#EachforEqual is the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day on the 8th of March, where each one of us can help create a gender-equal world. Celebrate the achievements of women you know and get involved with local events if you can.

Is it a coincidence that the Spring Equinox, or the start of Spring, is the same day as the International Day of Happiness? Maybe… but the 20th is a great moment to share what makes you happy and invite others to join in.

Mothering Sunday is on 22nd, and the clocks ‘Spring forward’ on the 29th – both are Sunday events that give you an opportunity to post on the weekend. One final mention, which is a bit “Marmite” – Crufts takes place on 5th-8th March. It’s either a great time to share your favourite cute puppy memes, Labradors rolling in muddy puddles, or your love of all things Dachshund. Or it may completely leave you
cold… it’s up to you!
