Case Study – Micro Business Show

Event Social Media - Social Media Advertising

About the project

We’ve worked with Nichola and Becky at the Micro Business Show many times over the last few years, so when they asked us to help with social media for their latest event we jumped at the chance.

After the success of the first two Micro Business Shows in 2018 and 2019, the team were planning the third Micro Business Show that would take place on 25th February 2020. This show is aimed at business people from the Freelance, Self Employed and Micro Business Community.

There were 2 key audiences we were looking to connect with- potential exhibitors and visitors to this fantastic free event.

What We Did

We supplied Social media content through the client’s Facebook event and page, Twitter account and LinkedIn business page.

We started building anticipation for the event back in September 2019 to ensure there was a consistent and persistent voice. Engaging content was posted to encourage people to book tickets and come along on the day.

As we entered into the new year (2020) we turned up the volume of posts on all platforms to ensure that we reached as many people as possible.

A few weeks before the event we used Facebook advertising to drive ticket sales.

On the day we also acted as the Social Media Partners and offered free one-to-one sessions to discuss social media marketing strategies with attendees.

Results & Stats

  • Facebook page audience grew by 30%
  • 79 Event sign-ups through paid Facebook advertising
  • Twitter account audience grew by 16%
  • Record number of exhibitors for the show
  • Record number of attendees at the show (over 250 sign-ups).

What the client said…

Emma and Kate are a pleasure to work with and an invaluable asset for their social media expertise. The tone and content for our business show is spot on and helps us to achieve better interactions from our online audience. They take the hassle out of creating engaging content, scheduling on time and in line with our target market.

Piece of Cake Marketing has certainly enhanced our online presence and helped us reach a wider audience. We’ve seen an increase in stand sales and a record number of pre-booked visitors at MicroBiz 2020, the bulk of which can be attributed to our social media success.

When promoting MicroBiz in person to local businesses, we found that many people had already heard about the event from social media – this gave a relatively young event greater credibility and made it easier to convert sales!

A big thanks for their hard work and marketing insights for the upcoming show.
